PROJECT OVERVIEW
Horizon was awarded the new construction of a $17.0M, 3-story, Administration and Maintenance Building for the City of Houston’s Northeast Water Purification Plant facility. The campus totals 43,000-SF and includes the Administration Building which features 28,711-SF of office space, conference rooms, multiple workstations, kitchens and breakrooms, a control room, and a laboratory for administrative personnel; while the other building includes a 2-story, 14,195-SF maintenance facility. The Northeast Water Purification Plant, which provides water for the majority of the City of Houston, will be controlled from the secure SCADA room. This control room is wired for additional power and data, along with back-up security measures ─ should there be an emergency within the surrounding area.

The NEWPP Expansion Project will add 320-million gallons per day (mgd) by 2024 to the existing water plant’s capacity. The project allows the City and the Regional Water Authorities to meet projected demands, while fulfilling requirements set by the Harris-Galveston and Fort Bend Subsidence Districts resulting in a shift from historical groundwater usage to a predominant reliance on surface water.
