PROJECT OVERVIEW
The City of Bellaire Municipal Building Complex is two separate facilities connected by a covered breezeway. The 27,713-SF Municipal Courts and Police Station is two-story with multiple sound-proof court rooms, a jury assembly room, court clerks offices, interview rooms, jail, and training facility. It also features Kevlar integrated millwork, and a control room which operates all the holding/secure areas. It is designed to be highly-secure with UL Level-3 ballistic resistant walls, millwork and glass.
The new state-of-the-art Police Station was designed with space and flexibility to expand, and incorporate evolving technologies and future innovation over the building’s long-term lifespan. Construction required tree protection through a tree disposition plan; and specific measures including mulching on exposed roots were completed to protect the 100-year old historic trees. This project is LEED Certified. RENDERING: Courtesy of PGAL Architects
