PROJECT OVERVIEW
Horizon was awarded the new construction of a 1-story free-standing 6,200-SF library building featuring classrooms, a community room, circulation desk, lobby, reading room, children's reading nook, teen reading nook, offices, workrooms, a terrace, covered walkways, and ADA compliant restrooms; as well as a new surface parking lot. The project was a steel frame/wood Glulam structure with brick veneer on coldformed metal framing of exterior walls. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, interior buildout using scheduled finishes. This was the first Joint Venture between a Charter School and the Houston Public Library System. Funded in part through a City of Houston Community Block Development Grant, the project has been touted as a model for future collaborative efforts between institutions of learning and the City.
